2-step garage — house tempo, house snare on 2 and 4 (backbeat), but the kick drops out of 2 and 4: it plays 1 and the and of 3 (bar 2 adds the and of 2), so the floor lurches instead of thumping. The sixteenths are swung: every off-sixteenth is written at its triplet position (0.333 and 0.833 of the beat), not straight, because the shuffle is the genre.

How it sits: closed hats play the eighths plus the swung a before each beat, an open hat on the and of 2, a shaker on each swung e, a rim ghost on the last e of bar 2. The sub bass holds the root for a dotted quarter, repeats on the and of 3 and slides to the minor third on the swung a of 4. The keys play two skippy minor-ninth stabs: the swung a of 1 and the swung e of 3.

Listen for the gap where the kick should be on 2 — the snare carries it alone.

Practice: count "1 e-and-a" as a triplet and place the stabs on the late e.
